9Lives: Don't Kill the Cat, is a party card game for 2-6 players that takes about 5 minutes to play. In 9Lives, you and your friends are doing your best to not kill the cat. Whenever a player does, they're eliminated from the game and a new round begins.
Setup:
- Each player is dealt 4 cards from the deck (which they can look at).
- The nicest person who hasn’t started a recent round goes first.
Gameplay:
- Players take turns playing a card from their hand with a number on it.
- The cat the group is trying to save loses lives equal to the number on the card.
- If a player doesn’t have a card to play, they are safe for the round and cannot be eliminated.
- Some cards have special text in the center. When played, the text must be read aloud, and the instructions followed.
Elimination:
- The player whose card reduces the cat’s life below 0 is the "cat killer" and is removed from the game.
- The remaining players shuffle their cards and start a new round.
Winning:
- The winner is the player who has avoided killing any cats.
